CODE OF ETHICS AND STANDARDS OF PRACTICE
WHEREAS,
the members of the Minnesota Responsible Property Investors and U.S. Equities
of Minnesota are committed to providing ethical services to Minnesota
consumers, to the education of its members and the industry, and to the
adherence of standards and practices.
THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED, that each Member of the Association pledges
to observe, obey and maintain the following standards of conduct when
dealing with the public and with other Members.
CANON
1
To commit to dealing fairly and ethically with the consumer.
CANON 2
To make every effort to continually inform the consumer of actions being
taken on their behalf.
CANON
3
To recognize the vulnerability and distress the consumer may be under
at the time of the foreclosure process.
CANON
4
To commit to a course of action that informs the consumer, in a clear
and concise manner, of their alternatives in a foreclosure situation.
CANON 5
To strive to pursue a course of action that offers benefits to each individual
consumer.
CANON 6
To structure transactions that meet with the consumer's ability to fulfill
the agreement.
CANON 7
To disclose to the consumer in writing the current estimated fair market
value of their home prior to the transaction being completed.
CANON 8
To disclose that if the consumer fails to abide by the terms of the transaction
they are about to enter into, the consumer may forfeit not only their
current estimated equity but also any additional equity that may have
occurred as a result of the foreclosure process.

To provide the consumer with disclosures, written in a clear and understandable
language, expressing terms, conditions, obligations and commitments to
each party.

To clearly disclose in writing the fees charged under the agreement.

To furnish the consumer, in a timely manner, with copies of all documents
signed by the consumer.

To supply the consumer with names of organizations and agencies that would
be able to advise them about the transaction they are about to enter into.
Those agencies shall include foreclosure prevention agencies, the Department
of Commerce, and the Attorney General's Office.

To conduct their business without regard to race, religion, gender, gender
preference, marital status, national origin or age of the persons with
whom they deal.

To cooperate with the Association's Ethics Committee in furnishing information
relative to any investigation of a possible violation of this Code of
Ethics and Standards of Practice.
